I have a diverse range of experience in the investment industry and in sustainability issues.
From 2011 to 2013 I was Director of Responsible Investment at the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment. Here I oversaw the development of responsible investment tools and training materials, facilitated worldwide investor networking on RI and was actively involved in PRI’s work to promote academic research on responsible investment.
From 2007 to 2011 I built and led the sustainability and governance team at APG, in the Netherlands – the asset manager for one of the world’s largest pension funds, ABP. I developed strategy for ESG across the whole portfolio; worked with portfolio managers in all asset classes on both in-house and externally managed investments; conducted company engagement; and developed external reporting on RI.
From 2000 to 2007 I directed ESG research and engagement for a leading fund manager – Henderson Global Investors, in London. Here I worked closely with fund managers on the mainstream pension fund teams, as well as with the specialist socially responsible investment fund team.
For thirteen years before entering the investment industry I worked for various sustainability organisations as a policy analyst and lobbyist. I covered a wide range of sustainability issues and lobbied the UK government, EU institutions, the UN and the World Bank.
And before that ... I was a translator.
